Trains and Boats

A window to the world.

Or "What kind of freak lets kids have access to an open air window on a train?"

The boys actually seemed in awe. I was really pleased that they had some appreciation for what a treat it is to see these creatures up close.

Portage Galcier - Crow Creek Mine

Snow in Texas? Not in June. Not along the Coast.

Hayden threw the bucket over his shovel like he had done it a hundred times.
Not enough to retire just yet but thats real, live gold.
That we paid $30 bucks for.
Snow fed cooler. Not a bad idea.

Denali (or there abouts)

We made our way North to Denali. Many wildlife sightings, not counting the boys.

Blue

Bear food? Maybe just a snack. I tied their shoe laces together to give me a fighting chance. This picture was taken at the top of a very steep and lengthy climb. They both made me feel old.

Chugach State Park Alaska

We've been here a full day now and our bodies are a bit freaked out by not having a setting sun. Technically it sets for about an hour or so but that is at 1:30 AM local time so we have yet to see it. The boys are the consummate travelers, as always. Okay that is a stretch but they love it and are having a great time.

This picture of the moon was taken at 11:36PM local time. As it was right after arrival it was 2:36AM by our internal clock time. Of note, there was no flash used. Its hard to flash fill mountains 20 miles away.
We only saw about 20 bear droppings.
